New
Cherryland Humane Society Shelter and Adoption, Education
and Conference Center
The
new 14,000 square foot CHS facility was planned and constructed
with attention to the currently increasing needs for humane
services and anticipated future needs. As the area serviced
by CHS continues to grow, it is important to properly position
the services of the CHS to effectively meet future challenges
of unwanted and homeless pets. The following is a description
of the various components of the new facility and how they
benefit the work of the CHS on behalf of homeless pets.
The
new facility is designed to provide a place for everyone to
enjoy, to view and interact with the animals, to tour, to
learn, and to gain a heightened awareness of the importance
of pets and their well-being. Interactive displays, exhibits,
continually running videos, presentations, and occasionally
guests available for consultation and to answer questions
will help to make a visit to the new facility enjoyable, educational,
rewarding and memorable.

Humane
Library
The purpose of the library is to house written, audio and
video resources dealing with humane topics, pet care, and
other educational information about pets. The library is available
on a regional basis for in-house reading, viewing and listening
for pleasure, education and research. Along with a computer
for online research, you will find training videos and books
on breeds, breed rescue groups, and general interest pet issues.
The CHS is also planning to produce its own educational resources
that will be available in the library.
The
CHS Humane Library is vital to our goals of promoting the
human/animal bond, teaching life's lessons that pets have
to offer, ending the many problems that pets face, and promoting
a humane attitude towards and an appreciation of and respect
for pets. We wish to thank so many individuals who have donated
books for the library. We are in need of additional books
and appreciate donations of books or funds to purchase books.
We extend a very cordial invitation to each of you to visit
the CHS Humane Library.
